Additional Information: | 2021 - This Contemporary building was constructed in 1986. The six-story brick building is near-identical to the building directly north across Wells Street, that was built two year prior (see AHI 113659). It is rectangular in plan, with a flat roof and sloping foundation that follows Wells as it travels westward toward the Milwaukee River. The primary entrance is located at the northwest corner of the building at the intersection of Milwaukee and Wells Streets, sheltered beneath a recessed portion of the first two stories. The building features rounded corners and a façade that steps progressively back from the Wells Street elevation, with a deep recess after the fourth story of the northwest corner. Bands of windows wrap the north and west facades, with groupings of taller windows at each of the rounded corners and a continuous white stone lintel above. The building is devoid of any additional ornamentation with the exception of a modest stringcourse of soldier bricks below the first story windows. |
