Additional Information: | 2021: This 2-story Gabled Ell house was constructed c.1870. It is irregular in plan (due to a c.1980 rear garage addition) with clapboard walls and an asphalt-shingled gable roof with overhanging eaves. The front elevation faces south and is asymmetrical in composition. A 2-story porch spans the width of the side-gabled mass and a portion of the front-gabled mass and does not appear to be original to the house. The porch features squared wood supports arranged in pairs with decorative trellising between the members of each pair. The porch roof features decorative pergola-inspired brackets. Decorative balusters are located along both stories of the porch. The front door is accessed via a set of steps in the east side of the porch. Visible windows are 1-over-1 with simple wood surrounds that feature peaked crowns. A stone chimney runs the length of the building’s eastern wall and projects through the eave; the stonework appears to be a modern veneer. This house was historically part of a larger farmstead; no outbuildings remain extant (a fieldstone barn, AHI# 13898, was surveyed in 1977 but had been razed by 1985). |
