Additional Information: | The tobacco barn was constructed c.1915. It is rectangular in plan with vertical board walls and a metal-clad gable roof. The building rests on a dirt floor with structural supports anchored in poured concrete piers; additional concrete foundation is located along portions of the exterior walls. Pairs of sliding barn doors are located in the center of the barn’s eastern and western elevations. Regularly spaced wall boards along both side elevations are hinged to open outwards, allowing interior ventilation for tobacco drying. Rows of racks with stripped log drying poles remain inside the building to further indicate its original purpose. See also #243671, #243673, #243674, #243675, #243676 |
