It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. The Main Street Bridge (B-70-056), constructed in 1973, carries Main Street/U.S. Highway (US) 45 on a north-south alignment over the Fox River in the city of Oshkosh. The bridge’s main span, span 3, is a welded plate-girder, “Scherzer Type” rolling-lift, double-leaf bascule superstructure, with bottom-mounted segmental rack and counterweight. Each bascule leaf features two curved, built-up, plate bascule girders. It has four approach spans: spans 1 and 2 are continuous over pier 1 and spans 4 and 5 are continuous over pier 4. The spans are comprised of welded plate girders of variable depth. The overall structure length is 475 feet, including the bascule span, approach spans, and abutments. The out-to-out width of the leaves is 58 feet, including a 48-foot roadway and two 5-foot sidewalks. Span 1 measures 89 feet long, span 2 measures 95 feet long, the bascule span is 110 feet long, span 4 is 95 feet long, and span 5 measures 81 feet, 6 inches long.
