Additional Information: | 2022 - This two-and-one-half story Queen Anne style house was constructed 1899. The building is asymmetrical in massing with a hipped roof and lower cross gables. The foundation is stone, the exterior is finished in clapboard siding and patterned wood shingles, and the roof is sheathed in wood shingles. The façade contains an east-facing gabled bay and a hexagonal corner tower with a pointed hexagonal roof topped with a finial. Across the first story of the façade and around the corner tower along the south elevation is an open porch with many decorative details, including turned wood posts. The front entrance is located between the gabled bay and the corner tower. Above the porch stairs leading to the door is a small pediment with a sunburst ornamentation. Most of the house's windows are one-over-one replacement sashes. The property also includes a carriage house constructed c. 1899. It consists of a one-story, side-gabled bay abutting a two-story cube with a hipped roof, front facing pedimented gable, and central hipped cupola. The carriage house has a stone foundation, clapboard siding, and wood shingled roofs. On the first floor, the side-gabled bay has a one-over-one replacement sash window and the two-story cube contains two garages stalls. The second story includes a central four-pane wood sash window beneath a front gable that has a two-pane horizontal wood sash window. The property is associated with William Graham, a prominent local businessman who operated a general store, served as postmaster for two terms, and worked for the school district. The house is also a substantial and intact local example of a high-style Queen Anne house. |
