Additional Information: | 2022: The Indian Baptist Church is a one-story frame building that was constructed in 1934. The front-gabled church (AHI #244872) has a parged concrete foundation, vinyl replacement siding, and an asphalt shingled roof. The main entrance is centrally located on the façade (southwest elevation) and accessed by concrete steps and a wooden wheel chair ramp that continues around the northwest (side) elevation. There are four evenly spaced, Gothic-arch, stained glass windows along the side elevations. The front door and sidelights are modern replacements. The interior was not accessible at the time of survey. The church’s original location was closer to the USH 12 Intersection; it was moved to its current site during the early 1960s, presumably when I-90/94 was constructed. Two additional buildings, an educational building and a supply building, were also moved to the property at that time. One of the buildings was located directly east of the church and was removed c. 1985. The remaining building is a one-room, frame building adjacent to the church. The front-gabled c. 1900 building has wood drop siding and is resting on concrete blocks. The side elevations each have two one-over-one double hung wood windows and there is a door on the northwest elevation. The roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles and is pierced by a brick chimney. The property also contains a small playground and cemetery. |
