Additional Information: | This 2-story house was constructed in 1948 in a Contemporary style that exhibits the influence of the International style. It is rectangular in plan with brick, vinyl, and vertical board siding and a flat roof with widely overhanging front eaves. The front elevation faces north and is asymmetrical in composition with an exterior, brick-clad chimney dividing the façade. The eastern half of the façade contains an off-center front door sheltered under a flat, cantilevered metal canopy. East of the entrance is a bank of three 2-over-2 windows; the wall surrounding the door and window bank is clad in vinyl siding. Above this, the second story is clad in vertical board and contains a bank of three 2-over-2 windows. The western half of the façade contains single banks of four 2-over-2 windows at the first and second stories. All 2-over-2 windows feature horizontally divided sashes. The wall around the first-story window bank is clad in brick as an extension of the exterior chimney cladding while the wall around the second-story window bank is clad in vertical board siding. A band of vinyl siding is located between the first and second stories. A single-bay garage with an overhead metal door projects from the west elevation; the face of the garage bay is flush with the face of the main building mass and shares the brick cladding of the adjacent wall. The flat roof of the garage serves as the floor of a walk-out balcony accessed via a door in the exterior of the west elevation. The east elevation is clad in brick with the east wall projecting beyond the front wall of the house. |
