Additional Information: | The American National Bank was established in Green in 1963 and constructed a headquarters and branch office on the west side in 1974. American National Bank of Green Bay, located at 908 South Fisk Street on the west side of Green Bay, was completed in 1974. The bank was designed by Appleton architect James Zwack. The bank changed its name to the First Interstate Bank in the late 1970s and was acquired by the regional Norwest Bank in 1992. It was acquired again in 2005 by Wells Fargo Bank. James Zwack was born in Chicago in 1927 and enlisted in the army in 1946. He worked in the office of Childs and Smith as an architect and was married in 1953. In 1965, his family moved to Appleton, and he opened his architectural practice. James Zwack and Associates designed the American National Bank of Green Bay, located at 908 South Fisk Street, and completed it in 1974. During his career, which focused on the commercial design of banks across the Midwest, Zwack received four AIA honor awards for design. He retired in 1988 and died in 1995. |
