Additional Information: | Structure B-18-001 is a three-span Polygonal Warren Overhead Truss bridge of riveted steel construction. The bridge measures 265-feet-long and has a 26.8-foot-wide, cast in place concrete deck. Steel beams below the decking are supported by poured concrete piers and abutments. The bridge’s truss design features nine vertical members and eight diagonals on each elevation, connected with riveted steel plates. Steel railings are located along the length of both trusses. The subject structure was constructed in 1948 and carries County Highway D over the Eau Claire River. Work on the bridge has generally included repairs, painting, and preventative maintenance. 2023: This bridge replaced a combination steel pony and overhead Pratt bridge that was constructed in 1867. The Bridge’s clearance was raised in 1975 with minimal alteration to the structure itself. The cross-bracing on the portals were shortened and the lower gusset plates were raised by six rivets on either side of the Bridge. |
