Additional Information: | This two-story Romanesque Revival church was constructed in 1870 to serve the Methodist congregation of the now defunct community of Onion River. It is rectangular in plan with cream brick walls and a metal-clad gable roof. The front elevation faces south and is symmetrical in plan with three bays separated by brick pilasters. The center bay contains a pair of wood panel double doors with a tall, round-arched transom above. The bays on each side contain tall, round-arched window openings that have been infilled with composition board. Additional round-arched window openings are located in both side elevations; these have been infilled with composition board and downsized windows. A one-story, flat-roofed, brick addition spans the building’s rear elevation and projects to the west where a recessed entry bay serves as a primary entrance. The addition was constructed after World War II. The building currently functions as the office of an auto dealership. |
