Additional Information: | According to the USFS Infrastructure (Infra) database, the work center was built in 1986. It includes two buildings, located in a clearing on the north side of the main campground road, 0.1-mile northeast of the Beaver Loop entrance. The main building is a simple rectangular ranch style building on a concrete slab foundation. The façade includes an overhead garage vehicle door, a pedestrian door, and two small rectangular windows. Windows are wood framed and crank open at the bottom. The gable ends each have two similar windows, with five along the rear elevation clustered in a group of three on the garage side of the building and two on the workshop side. The building is clad in wide clapboard siding, stained brown, and has an asphalt shingled gable roof. A centrally located cinderblock chimney vent extends above the roofline. A routed wood sign, brown with yellow lettering, hangs between the two doors on the front elevation and identifies the building as the “Chequamegon Waters Work Center.” A smaller similar sign over the windows says “Chequamegon National Forest.” |
