Additional Information: | This saddle tank locomotive was produced by the H. K. Porter Co. for industrial use. Saddle tank locomotives were used in industry because their design was efficient for the tight curves of industrial settings. The tank was used for a phosphate plant in Florida, then sold to a collector. The museum acquired it in 2014. The metal constructed engine is round and features the trademark “saddle” water tanks wrapping around the boiler and two large metal chimneys. The attached wooden cab is in poor condition. |
