NOTES
Additional Information:This caboose was built in 1928 in the Soo Line shops. It was rebuilt in 1959 in the Soo Line Fond du Lac shops to add insulation, metal safety step end platforms and plywood walls. The exterior of the caboose is clad with vertical boxcar siding and the arched roof sports a rectangular cupola with windows. Openings punctuate the side walls and glass and wood doors are in the end walls. Restoration of the caboose included new roofing, removal of the plywood siding, and replicated boxcar siding where needed. The interior is awaiting restoration. This car was used as a caboose for freight and iron ore trains in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Upper Michigan. It was also used to haul small numbers of passengers or workers being transported to job sites. The car was donated to the museum in 2001.
