Additional Information: | 2023: The Snowflake Ski and Golf Club is in Timber Coulee on County Road P north of Westby. As of 2023, the ski and golf club consists of two ski jumps hills (72582 and 246163), a nine-hole golf course (246164), a clubhouse (246165), and three concession/service buildings. The Snowflake Ski Club originated in 1922 and hosted ski jumping tournaments at three previous locations before purchasing lands from the Eugene Volden farmstead at its present location in 1960. Aerial imagery and La Crosse Tribune newspaper archives indicate the Snowflake Clubhouse (246165) was constructed circa 1964. It is a one-story building that is T-shaped in plan with a sweeping cross-gabled roof alluding to Scandinavian architecture. It is east of County Road P, across from the golf course and ski jumps. The exterior is clad with board and batten siding. The roof overhangs the building with eaves closed with wood soffit and decorative bargeboard that alludes to chalet type architecture. The windows are large single pane fixed sash and one-by-one sliding sash windows. |
