Additional Information: | This 2-story Twentieth Century Commercial building was constructed in 1914 as the Kiel Mercantile Association. It is rectangular in plan with brick walls and a flat roof. The front elevation faces north and is symmetrical in composition with a recessed center entrance. Original storefront space on both sides of the entrance has been infilled with rough stone veneer. Banks of three 1-over-1 windows are located within this storefront infill on both sides. An asphalt-shingled awning roof spans the storefront space. V-shaped brick and stone decorative detailing is located at both ends of the awning. A brick beltcourse spans the wall above the first story. The second story contains three banks of four downsized 1-over-1 windows; brick infill is located above the windows. Above the center window bank and centered below the roofline is a rectangular brick panel with contrasting stone corners and a diamond-shaped stone centerpiece. |
