Additional Information: | 2023: This one and one-half story single-family residence is a side-gabled vernacular form referred to by Gottfried and Jennings in American Vernacular Buildings and Interiors as a Portico Bungalow. The foundation is quarried stone. The exterior is wood clapboard siding with wood band trim at the base of each façade and the corners. The side gabled roof features wide overhanging, open eaves with wood fascia below clipped side gables. The windows throughout are the original six-over-one double hung wood sash windows predominantly placed in pairs but also individually in the secondary elevations. The principal (south) elevation is symmetrical with a centered entrance consisting of a six-lite and wood paneled door that is placed in a round arch door surround with a fan-light blind transom above. The entrance is sheltered below a pedimented hood that is supported on brackets attached to pilasters and features a round arch underside. A low, wide stone veneered, concrete slab stoop provides access to the entrance. Paired windows are evenly placed on either side of the entrance. In addition to the house, there are two clipped gable garage buildings or outbuildings. |
