Additional Information: | The Washington Street Entrance frames the drive into Hatten Park at the east end of Washington Street. It is composed of two, random, rock-faced limestone ashlar walls with a stone cap, each wall forming an S-curve 75 feet long. The walls attach to the perimeter walls at one end, rise from four feet to five feet in height as they approach the drive and are anchored with a random, rock-faced limestone ashlar pier that steps from five feet up to 8 feet. A free-standing pier matching the end pier is found immediately adjacent to the drive. Built by local men on WPA relief program. |
