Additional Information: | The building was originally built in 1923 to house the feed store/serve as a warehouse of the Ewald Bros. The following year, Ewald Bros. dissolved and bother Bruno bought out his brother Reinhold. In 1927, Bruno moved his grocery and meat business into this building. Following the repeal of prohibition, Bandow opened a liquor store out of the building and this was the first location (1933) of Irving Minton's Mint Bar, which would later relocated to 108 E. Main Street. In 1934, the space was remodeled and another bar went into the space, which was operated by Mart Hirzel. Living quarters were also added onto the back of the liquor store for the Bandow family. The bar was later known as Bandow's Bar. |
