Additional Information: | POINTED ARCHED WINDOWS AND ENTRYMASSIVE SQUARE ENTRY TOWER ON CNRCRENELLATED TOWER W/ CNR BUTTRESSESSTONE SILLS AND KEYSTONES Resurveyed March 2015; new copper-clad steeple, loss of crenellated bell tower roof and upper windows; new metal roof throughout. Spring Lake Lutheran Church was constructed in 1931 in a Neogothic Revival style. It is rectangular in plan with red brick walls and a metal-clad gable roof. The front elevation faces south and is asymmetrical in plan with a massive square bell tower at the southeast corner. A pair of glass entry doors with gothic arched transom is located in the base of the bell tower. The entrance is accessed via a brick and concrete stoop. A large 8-pane gothic -arched window is located in the south facade, although this appears to have been covered at the time of survey. Pairs of gothic arched windows are located in the south, and east facades of the bell tower; each of these has a decorative three-pane upper sash and an unornamented lower sash. The bell tower is capped with a copper-clad steeple that was added within the last thirty years. Each side elevation contains a row of regularly-spaced gothic arched windows with stone sills and keystones; each of these has three decorative panes of stained glass in the upper sash and a single stained glass pane in the lower sash. |
