OPEN AIR THEATER, HOME OF THE OLDEST RESIDENT SUMMER STOCK THEATER IN THE COUNTRY. See also record #54152

The Fisher family, who started the Peninsula Players in 1935, purchased the former Wildwood Boys Camp in 1937. The camp consisted of the main lodge, several cabins, a log building known as the "icehouse", and a boathouse.

After purchasing the property, the Fishers constructed the "new dorm", "the mansion", the stage house, the scenery shop, and a substantial addition to the Icehouse, which became the Fisher home. Richard Fisher designed the Memorial Garden.

In 1999, the complex included twelve structures, two staircases, retaining walls, and expanded gardens. Additional buildings include a rehearsal hall, a ticket booth, a small canteen, a shed called "The Chicken Coop" and a community building.

In 2005 the theater pavilion, the stage house, the scene shop, and the canteen were replaced.
