Additional Information: | PHOTO OBSCURED BY TREES Compound was constructed in 1913 for Ferdinand Hotz, a Chicago jeweler, after designs by Lawrence Buck of Glencoe, IL. The property originally contained a fieldstone garage with tower (AHI #26116); three log cottages; a log outhouse; a log pumphouse; a log washhouse; and tennis courts. As of 2017 all major buildings appear to be extant, but the property was not publicly accessible, and its location below the edge of a bluff makes visibility difficult. Hotz also constructed a beachfront cottage in Fish Creek. See AHI #49617 for more information. |
