Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. HABS WI-287-C. An excellent example of the Queen Anne commercial building, fairly rare in Oshkosh. Of the remaining examples, this is perhaps the best proportioned of the single bay stores. Engaged colonettes merge into bartizans above the roof. Stone bands provide an interesting counterpoint to this vertical emphasis. City states that second and third floor interior have been gutted by fire. Rudolph J. Weisbrod was the original owner of the building. He was a furniture manufacturer and undertaker who used the building for his businesses. In 1884-85, Weisbrod extensively remodeled the building and opened a saloon and hall. In 1891 the building was remodeled again and sold to H. Teichgraber who opened the "Alhambra" Saloon. |
