Additional Information:SINCE 1943 THE BUILDING HAS SERVED AS A PUBLIC TAVERN AND CLUBHOUSE FOR A MUTUAL AID SOCIETY ESTABLISHED BY BAY VIEW'S ITALIAN RESIDENTS. THE INTERIOR OF THE DANCE HALL, ADDED IN 1927, FEATURES MEDITERRANEAN STYLE DECOR. John Schramka was the mason. Chas. Luetzkow was the carpenter. Original estimated cost $5000. Associated Individuals: Jos. P. Paolo - owner 1927. The cost of the addition was $2500. a.k.a. Italian American Mutual Aid Society. Another map code is 372/20. See Bay View District form. Home of the Italian-American mutual aid society "Giuseppe Garibaldi". The Garibaldi Clubs were active in Italian-American communities during the early twentieth century. They provided insurance, social functions, and assistance for Italian immigrants.
