Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. Slightly damaged by fire 8/1992.[A] two-story hexagonal, Italianate tower built for John B. Macy (see AHI #27792); Macy supposedly had the tower built as a library and refuge, and often sought quiet there. Over the years it was used as a land office, a congressional office and an Indian Tribal Office; retains significance as a rare example of a hexagon still standing that pre-dates Wisconsin statehood. |
