Additional Information: | The T.J. Sleep-McCleary House (AHI No. 28051) is a two-and-one-half-story, Queen Anne-style house constructed c.1889. It is of frame construction, sheathed in a combination of wood shingles (upper one-and-one-half stories) and asbestos (lower story), with a rectangular plan on a stone foundation. The irregular cross-gable roof is covered in asphalt shingles and features paired gables adorning the front (northwest) facade and a corbelled brick and rubble stone chimney. Decorative wood brackets and bargeboards adorn the eaves. The first- and second-story windows are mostly one-over-one, double-hung replacement windows. A two-story bay is featured on the facade. The side (northeast) elevation features decorative diamond cladding between the second-story windows. The upper half-story windows are a combination of single and paired, six-over-six, double-hung sashes with decorative hoods. The entry is located in a porch set to the left of the facade with a flat roof, full entablature, and Doric columns. |
