GROUPED IONIC COLUMNS SUPPORT THE PORCH WHICH EXTENDS ACROSS THE FACADE. A ROUND HEADED WINDOW DOMINATES THE GABLE END, BREAKING THE ENTABLATURE. SHINGLES ARE EMPLOYED ON THE ATTIC STORY WITH CALPBOARDS ON THE LOWER TWO STORIES. A NUMBER OF THIS TYPE OF DESIGN REMAIN IN OSHKOSH. TWO OF THE MOST DISTINCTIVE - 521 AMHERST (WN 29/19) AND 645 AMHERST (OS 17/2) - CONTINUE THE ORNAMENT OF THE FRONT GABLE ON THE SIDE ORIEL WINDOW. IT IS A TWO AND ONE HALF STORY FRAME HOUSE. |
