Raasch. Order to raze and remove building - garage only 4/16/1992. House has undergone extensive changes. It originally was a wood frame flat. George Burroughs was associated with George Burroughs and Sons Trunk Manufacture on East Water Street.[A] The George Burroughs House is a two-and-one-half story Queen Anne style building that was constructed in 1893. It has a hipped roof with gables and has undergone several exterior changes in the historic period. In 1917, the bungalow-styled front porch and the rear stairway were added. The building has clapboard siding. A decorative lintel caps the attic window on the main elevation. Historic interior features include hardwood floors, wooden door and window surrounds with "bulls eye" corner blocks, wooden baseboards, wooden ceiling cornice, a built in china cabinets with leaded glass doors, and a claw foot tub. |
