It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. The WHS waived its 30 day demolition notice on 3/27/2008. The property was removed from the National Register on 7/1/2009. The architect of the coast guard stations was Victor Mendleheff, who initialled the plans "vm." Mendleheff was responsibe for at least 81 USLSS AND USCG stations of which 8 were unique designs. Milwaukee was one of the eight unique design. Mendleheff's plan was a scaled-down version of a very high style Prairie design submitted to the Coast Guard by Milwaukee architect Alfred Clas two years earlier. |
