NOTES
Additional Information:The Glover House, built in 1892 [F], stands upon a cut stone foundation and is two stories, with an attic, in height. The building is asymmetrically composed with gables projecting from the main hip roof. The corners of the front gable are bevelled, with frame brackets forming canopies above the second story windows. A simple detail, resembling a decorative truss, occupies the peak of the roof. Fenestration is regularly disposed across the facade and capped by frame drip molds. The concentration of ornament on the house occurs on the front porch and a rectangular bay window (east elevation). Both of the sections are decorated with simple brackets and distinctive iron cresting (along the roof ridge). The residence is in good condition. Another interesting and important component is the retention of a large carriage barn (WK 78/16A), which is a contributing resource, located to the rear of the lot.

Architectural Significance:

Architecturally significant as a representative example of a period of construction, the Glover House is a fine, well preserved example of the Picturesque style. Although fairly restrained, the tall proprtions, multiple gables and decorated porch provided a precedent for later styles. (See 215 W. Laflin Avenue, WK 37/13). The Glover House is a pivotal building in the McCall Historic District.

James and Anna Glover were individuals associated with this residence from 1899 to 1940. [A]. Mr. Glover was an engineer. The building has functioned as a house from the date of its construction in 1892 until present time. [A, D, F].
