NOTES
Additional Information:Architectural Statement: The Wiggington House stands on a cut stone foundation and is two stories, plus attic, in height. An example of the vernacular house type popular in the 1890's in Waukesha, the building consists of a rectangular block with a projecting gable roofed section to the south and north and a gable roofed wall dormer on the west facade. The majority of the building is covered with narrow clapboards, with decorative work concentrated in the gable end. The dormer is covered with fish scale shingles with the exception of the area beneath the attic windows, which contain panels of diagonal boards applied to suggest a woven detail. A one story enclosed porch is situated on the facade. This replaced an earlier open porch which extended the width of the building. The residence is in good condition. Two garages are related buildings. Architectural Significance: The Wiggington House is of a similar period and scale as the majority of the buildings in the McCall Historic District and is considered a contributing building in that district. Historical Statement: Dr. Richard Wiggington, a local dentist, was the original owner of the home, (and Peter Blair was its builder). [I]. Richard and Mary Wigginton occupied the house from 1894 to 1934. [A]. Other map codes include City Map # 37 WK 38/12, and Map "C".
