NOTES
Additional Information:This two story gabled ell house features an L-shaped plan configuration, a fieldstone foundation, a brick exterior, a brick trim and an asphalt shingled multi-gable roof. The windows thoroughout the dwelling are set within segmental arched openings. Brick lintels and projecting cornices and sills further distinguish these windows. Attached at the side elevation is the one story ell which is fronted by an open designed front porch. The porch was later enclosed in 1981. (See Bib. Ref. A). The porch's shed roof was once supported by simple posts, one of which rested on filled-in railings. The residence was built in 1860 and is in fair condition. (See Bib. Ref. A). It is related to a garage, a building of which no description was given in the Intensive Survey Form. Architectural/Engineering Singificance: This property meets criteria C of the National Register requirements because the property retains enough of the character that it had when the town of Barton was growing and developing. This building contributes to the whole character of the Barton Historic District.
