"The congregation of Die Erste Deutsche Bischofliche Methodisten Kirche held services here until 1896 when they moved to property on Twenty-first and Highland, purchased for them by Captain Frederick Pabst. The vacated church building was converted to a rathskeller featuring Viennese concerts. When Milwaukee's German theater was at its height, the Forst-Keller was a favorite meeting place for an after-the-theater glass of Pabst beer."
