The J.B. Theriault House is an important but not significant examle of the Queen Anne Revival styled house built in the 1880's in Chippewa Falls. The address of this property appears to have been 405 Coleman prior to the present owner. Martha and Abraham Moses purchased the property at this site in 1885. In May, 1886 the property was sold to Eugene Gross and John B. Theriault. Gross sold his share of the property to theriault in November, 1886. Theriault constructed a house and resided on the property until 1894. John Theriault is chiefly remembered in Chippewa Falls history as a manufacturer of red brick. Theriault's eight acre brick yard, established in the early 1890's, was located in Tilden. Theriault sold the yard in 1914. Subsequent owners of the Theriault property on Colemen were: Eligius powers (1894-1935) and Angeline Powers (1938). The home is presently the residence of Katherin Jasper. (G) This property is of local historical interest because of its association with J.B. Theriault, pioneer brick manufacturer in Chippewa Falls. Although much of the brick used to construct early buildings in Chippewa Falls was imported from Menomonie brick yards. Theriault was one of a few local brick manufacturers who also supplied brticks to Chippewa Falls' builders (H). He was also active in civic affairs.
