Additional Information: | Multi gable with tower dormer two story three sided bay with bracketed projecting gable; three story octagonal tower covered with shingles and conical roof, two story open front porch with turned posts and one bay gabled entrance portico. Open porch on rear addition; lawrge west stairway window, shed roof dormer. Constructed in the later phase of the queen Anne style when round or polygonal turrets and towers became popular stylistic devices of the Victorian Queen Anne style, the house at 608 West Columbia Street has an octagonal tower covered by decorative shingles and a conical roof in addition to the usual Queen Anne details including projecting bays, bay window and porch. The house located on 608 West Columbia Street is architecturally significant as the best preserved representative of the towered Queen Anne house built in 19th Century Chippewa Falls. |
