Additional Information:Large projecting metal cornice with brackets, finials and triangular shaped pediment inscribed with Doerre, with corbeled brick and rough brick pattern between the cornice and the 3rd story round windows set in the recessed outer bays of the three bay facade; slightly projecting central bay has three sided briel window on its 2nd story and a blind segmental arch over the 3rd story window grouping; white stone belt courses and 2nd story flat straight window lintels; store front has been completely altered for contemporary commercial use. #650: 201 and 203 S. 4th Street. Used for a Bootery and Shoe Store by Pete Larson in the 1890s and by the Tausche Company in 1907, the Doerre Building, although altered on the street level, has retained significant architectural integrity in the upper floor. This originally was an addition to the Doerre Block, built between 1894 adn 1906. Prior to that it was a vacant lot. By 1956, 135, 201 and 203 all are connected and used as a whoplesale Tausche hardware establishement above the first floor.
