| Additional Information: | Pointed arched windows with stained glass borders; gabled vestibule with double leafed doors and over light; rear addition. Typical of the small 19th century rural church, the Church of Christ constructed in 1898 is a simple clapboard covered meeting house for Norwegian immigrants, has a steeply pitched gable roof and gabled vestibule, pointed arched windows and lights with stained glass borders. Designed without a tower and very little ornament, the architecturally significant Church of Christ is the only extant frame interpretation of the Gothic Revival style or any other historic style with architectural integrity in the city. This church was erected in 1898 for use by the city's Norwegian immigrant population. Church services were delivered in Norwegian until 1906, at which time bilingual services were offered. An addition was made to the building in 1922. This church is of importance, though not significant, to historical interest to Chippewa Falls because of its strong association with the city's Norwegian heritage. |
