Additional Information: | Two-story brick Prairie School house designed by Percy Dwight Bentley and built in 1913. Short shingled second story compressed between broad roof overhang and extended brick lower story; intersecting hip roofs; brick piers frame entrance; door hood; plain rectangular windows; cypress and stone materials on garden facade; outside end chimney with white tile ornament; white masonry water table; frame garage and addition on west side. An outstanding example of the early 20th century architecture in La Crosse, the Felber House is significant as an innovative design created by the La Crosse Prairie School architectural firm of Percy Bentley and Otto Merman. Charles J. Felber was president of the E.R. Barron Company at the time this house was built. |
