Additional Information: | Large rock chimney on south elevation. Constructed of local limestone during the WPA era of the 1930s, the shelter and Grandad Park are significant sites essential to the community life and are significant representatives of the recreational architecture in the city. The shelter house at Grandad Bluff Park represents one of the public work programs of the New Deal. During the Depression, governmental officials in Washington stimulated the economy by hiring out of work citizens to do various public related jobs. |
