Additional Information: | Two-story industrial building articulated by brick piers and arched windows. Facade capped by brick piers; segmental arched window openings (now slightly altered and filled with glass block). Lower facade shows signs of alteration. This structure has suffered much alteration, however, it probably was not part of the original Gund Brewery Complex. After Gund Brewery went out of business, G. Heileman purchased the old malt house and Swift and Co., purchased the warehouse at the rear of the malt house from the Scotten Dillon Tobacco Co. which had purchased it from Gund. Swift also built the building at 2126-2136 South Avenue. They tore down a large frame dwelling, probably a Gund house, to build this brick building. The building was originally used to slaughter chickens. Related Buildings: Racking House (2016 South Avenue); Gund Stables (2219 South Avenue); Malt House (2104 South Avenue); Gund Office Building (2111 South Avenue). 2018 - Not resurveyed, nonextant |
