Additional Information: | Creme brick church structure with gable roof, large rose window, domed tower and round arched stained glass windows. Sculptured and stepped gable end with large rose window with circular tracery; smooth elevations broken by capped slender brick pilasters; round arched windows with tracery; square tower on east front with long corner pilasters placed on a brick base with belfry in the upper story and dome at the top with round arched openings; pressed concrete three portal entrance with round arched center entrance; round bay on east side; stained glass windows. Wenceslaus is significant as the only early 20th century modern interpretation of the Romanesque style in the city of La Crosse. Wenceslaus' congregation has been disbanded. The church is presently used by the nearby Viterbo college as its students chapel. Western Construction Co. (formerly Molzahn & Lyons -Masons) contractors. |
