Additional Information: | One-story indutrsial building with brick piers and corbeling articulation. Elevations are articulated by brick piers and corbeled brick along the corner line of the building. 2018 - Resurveyed, appearance unchanged This sprawling industrial/commercial building serves as the corporate headquarters for Inland Packaging (formerly Inland Printing Company). It has an irregular footprint comprising multiple sections. The core section of the building is one-and-one-half stories with brick cladding and a flat roof. On the west elevation, a series of fenestration bays are differentiated by brick pilasters and corbeling beneath the roof line. Within each bay is a large window opening that has been infilled with concrete and fitted with two small single-light windows. At the southwest corner of the building is a full-height stone surround with a brick infilled opening that appears to have originally been a primary entrance. The core of the building has been greatly expanded to the south by a two-story, brick, modern addition with deeply recessed wide window openings. Along South Avenue, this section of the building angles sharply inward to a two-story recessed entrance. A large parking lot and free-standing brick sign are located southeast of the building. The building has housed a number of industries, including Stoll Manufacturing Company in the 1930s and Machine Products Company in the 1950s. In 1971, Inland Printing Company moved into the building and undertook numerous renovations. The company was founded in the 1940s and specializes in printing packaging and labels for food and beverage products. |
