Additional Information: | Design by Otto Merman in 1918, the Arenz House is an interesting combination of stucco, brick, dark trim, leaded glass casement windows, and half-timber ornamentation that vaguely suggests the English country cottage and that has the horizontal emphasis of the Prairie School, the Albert Arenz House is significant as a well preserved unusual early work by Otto Merman as a designer of the Prairie School house independent of Percy Bentley. At the time this house was built, Albert Arenz was a clerk in the Arenz Shoe Company store. |
