NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Irregular shaped structure with multiple steep gable roofs, round arched door, large wall chimneys, white brick and blue tile roofs, and bay window. Gas station converted to retail use. Designed to catch the attention of the customer, the Pure Oil Station constructed c. 1940 is the only gas station to have retained its original character in the City of La Crosse. Built for Stanton and Larson c. 1930, this became Ott's Pure Oil Service by 1934 and later simply the Pure Oil Service Station. F.R. Schwalbe and Son was the builder. 2017 UPDATE - THIS BUILDING APPEARS SUBSTANTIALLY THE SAME SINCE IT WAS LAST SURVEYED IN 1996.
