| Additional Information: | Round two-story tower element and hip roofed rectangular roof dormer projects from facade along with entrance porch with round arched openings; round arched entrance door with arched transom window; enclosed east side porch with long round arched window; three-sided two-story bay on east side; outside wall chimney; cream beige brick. Original house was red brick. House was remodeled in 1927 by a son. Alterations to the original structure has altered the architectural significance of the Michel House. Charles J. Michel was one of La Crosse's most important brewery owners. Along with John Gund and G. Heileman, Michel's Brewery helped make La Crosse an important center of the brewing industry during the 1880-1918 period. Eventually the Heileman Co. obtained the Michel Brewery. |
