Gabled two-story wall dormer projects from front facade framed by capped corner pilasters and with classical swag design in gable end; palladian styled window and three-part window in wall dormer. One of the more elaborate representatives of the early Queen Anne houses in the city, retaining its architectural character and setting. Adam Kroner is the brother of Fred Kroner, who started the hardward store business. Adam Kroner built the business up over the years. Adam came to the U.S. from Sersheim, Germany in 1868 at the age of 21. He learned the carriage trade in France before coming to America. He and his wife were married in 1875 and were members of the First Lutheran Church. Adam was president of the church choir. Minnie, nee Miller, was from Barre Mills. Adam served as a LaCrosse alderman for many years. He also was a founder of the German-American Bank as well as the LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital. He was an 18 year member of the board of trustees of the LaCrosse County Hospital. He died in 1930. Minnie belonged to the LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital women's group that made linens for the hospital.
