Additional Information: | Map code is 070922341014. "The two-story Craftsman/Prairie style home was built shortly after the Tuttle houses, and shows similar influences. Dr. Milo Quaife was head of the Wisconsin State Historical Society from about 1914 to 1920. He was a prolific author of historical accounts of Wisconsin, but was tragically killed in a three-car crash around 1960. His house was built when Harrison Street ran past the side of the house, accommodating a lower-level side-entry garage. The back of the house looks out to a huge old-growth maple and onto Vilas Park. The second-story back porch was most likely a screened sleeping porch for warm nights." Architect Network, Inc., Second Annual Arts and Crafts Conference, 2000. |
