Constructed for the locally prominent lumberman Alexander McDonell, this house has been covered with modern siding with the result that most architectural details have been removed. McDonell is best remembered in Chippewa Falls history for his donation of McDonell Memorial High School to Notre Dame Parish in 1907 (C). This school, part of the Notre Dame complex, is part of the National Register of Historic Sites (B). McDonell also donated a parcel of land for Chippwea Falls city park, Irvine Park (D).
