Additional Information: | Cornice returns and half round window on gable ends; six over clear plate glass windows; one bay decked portico with Ionic columns and sidelighted entrance door with overlight; rear garage decked east side enclosed porch. Similar to house at 705 Dover (27/31); Brown brick color. Constructed for the owner of an insurance agency, C. E. Stiels (A) in the late 1920's, the Colonial Revival exhibits the characteristic fine bay facade, gable roof, sidelighted entrances, multi-paned windows as well as a distinctive balconied entry portico supported by multiple Ionic columns. Similar to two other Period style Chippewa Falls Houses influenced by the Neo-Classical mode in the 1920's, the Stiels house is the most elaborate of the three and the best representative of the 1920's, Neo-Classic styled house in Chippewa Falls. |
