Additional Information: | Segmental arched windows in side elevations; facade has been obscurred by screen front and store front has been altered. Feb. 2021: This 3-story Commercial Vernacular building was constructed c.1905 as an agricultural implements dealer with a 1-story Contemporary addition constructed off of the southwest elevation in about 1940 when the building was converted to an automobile showroom. It is rectangular in plan with red brick side walls and a metal-clad façade. The front elevation faces southeast and is symmetrical in plan with banks of shop windows spanning the first story. Recessed entrances are located at the northern and southern ends of the storefront. Each bank of shop windows contains two single-pane transom windows and is separated from the other shop window banks by painted brick pilasters. No fenestration is located at the second of the façade. The c.1925 addition is of brown brick construction and is rectangular in plan with the exception of a rounded southern corner. The southeast elevation contains four vehicular bays, all but one of which contain modern overhead metal garage doors (the other contains an original wood and glass garage door. A single pedestrian-scale entrance is located south of the garage doors; this features a transom opening that has been infilled with a wood panel. The rounded south corner of the addition contains large display windows, one of which has been replaced with wood paneling. |
