This structure contributes to the significance of the East College Avenue Residential Historic District under Criterion C as a pivotal example of an architect-designed Craftsman style, uppermiddle class house displaying many features of the style including stickwork patterned stucco walls, abstract geometric ornamentation and exposed rafter tail eaves supported by knee brace bracketing. This nearly perfectly preserved house with its matching garage illustrates the high quality, expensive houses built on College Avenue in the latest architectural styles in the early 20th century as the neighborhood approached its zenith as Appleton's finest residential street. |
